POLICY AND PROCEDURES
Objective – To be a
responsible energy user and reduce energy consumption
Procedures
·
Replace
lights with energy efficient lighting - All incandescence bulbs to be
changed over to flouros over time ·
Natural
light is used during daylight hours in office ·
Turn
off all lights when leaving vacant rooms ·
Turn
off satellite connection over night ·
The
cellar door lights are only used when occupied during opening hours ·
The
cellar door fridge is only turned on during opening hours ·
Minimal
external lighting is used, ie low voltage lighting to the carpark ·
There
is no illuminated signage on the property ·
No
floodlights in the carpark or on the property outside public areas. ·
Portable
hurricane lamps with citronella oil are used on the decking area. ·
Fuel
– costs - we live on site and do not have any commuting costs to/from
work. ·
A
majority of the tasks performed on the property are done by hand or on
foot, minimising the use of vehicles (eg
hand pruning, picking, wire lifting, checking drippers is all done on
foot) ·
Record
electricity consumption of appliances ·
Investigate
solar panel options/green power options and implemented solar power

Collect
all water on site for use in the business ·
Plant
water wise indigenous species on property ·
Use
septic sand filter to recycle all grey water on the cellar door garden
area ·
Only
recycled water is used to water garden (no rainwater) ·
Switch
to low phosphate eco products ·
We
do not wash vehicles on site with a hose. Only a bucket, sponge and
biodegradable detergents are used. Washing of vehicles is very infrequent
(may be once or twice a year) and when it does occur vehicles are washed
on the grassed area.
